Sally Oglesby was appointed City Clerk in April 1985. She is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and is one of three clerks in Tennessee who have been awarded the Master Municipal Clerk's designation by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC). Sally currently serves on the Board of Directors for IIMC representing the states of Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Tennessee.

Office of the City Clerk The City Clerk's Office maintains and preserves all public records, contracts, the city seal, ordinance books, resolution books, and minutes of the City Council, Beer Board, and other boards and committees. In addition the City Clerk's Office is responsible for the City's adherence to established regulations governing permitting, licensing, and public notices. In day-to-day activities, the City Clerk serves as the office responsible for business licenses, beer permits, liquor licenses, solicitation permits, peddler permits, taxicab permits, obtaining easements, preparation of Council agendas, packets, and minutes, maintenance of the City Hall building, annexations, contract oversight, and grant administration.
